John Casson

The British Ambassador in Egypt

Word by

His excellency Ambassador Casson attended the launch of Malvern College Egypt (MCE); his presence is an expression of Britain’s keen interest in investing in Egypt’s education as a means of shaping the future of young people and, in turn, society. What follows are excerpts of Ambassador Casson’s speech:

"I would like to welcome all of you here tonight in my capacity as the British Ambassador to Egypt as well as in my capacity as a local resident, here, in Garden City.”

In his speech, Ambassador Casson touched upon some critical values which best describe the relationship between Britain and Egypt, he stated that it “is not about building, it's about people investing together, it's about people learning together, it's about people going on a holiday together, it's about people debating together and entering partnerships together. Education is a good example of this, where the best of Egypt’s future is mixed with the best of Britain’s future.”
He concludes by saying: “I am very proud and very pleased to welcome the birth of this new institution, Malvern College Egypt that is characterized by British roots and an Egyptian future."
